Both check styles are standard size 2 3/4' x 6' and include a check register. We utilize state-of-the-art technology to exceed all American Bankers' Association specifications, as well as guidelines set by banks and credit unions. Checks are standard, secure, and are accepted by all financial institutions. Office supply stores sell check blanks that fit into standard computer printers. This check paper includes the necessary security features of checks, and using the check printing software, you can print your personal information, including your name & address, your bank's name and address, and your account numbers.
So some background as to why I'm asking (if it even matters):
I have a checking account with Capital One 360. Where I live (FL) there are no ATM's for depositing so I can't deposit cash. I've been fine with the no-brick-and mortar style bank for a while now since I can still deposit checks with my phone.
But recently I've been getting a lot of cash that I'm not wanting to hold on to and depositing straight into my account isn't possible.
The workaround I was thinking was to give someone close to me the cash to deposit (parents in this case) into their brick and mortar and then have them write me a check. Seems simple but then my parents said they don't have checks since they never write them. I could order them but then I thought of this idea and I can't find anything on the internet about it being done.
So my idea was to print out a check on plain white paper to look as identical to a real check as possible. I would be using legitimate account numbers and increment the check numbers accordingly and then I cut them out and take the pics with my phone for deposit.
My thoughts are that the app doesn't even look at the security paper marks or the magnetic ink so it shouldn't matter. As long as the transaction is legitimate and never gets reported as bad then they would never question the checks.
Also when you look at the checks in the browser after being deposited, it's just a black and white outline of the important information so they probably don't even store the background colors of the check.
So I would be printing just the blank checks and then writing the details in like the amounts and payto so I would assume the app wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
I want to stress I'm not going to use it for anything illegal and if you guys tell me even this is illegal I probably wont even try it. I'm really just trying to avoid ordering and waiting on their checks (they cost money) as well as avoiding the fee's charged for personal transfer.
So that's my question, I hope this is an appropriate subreddit. I couldn't think of anywhere else to ask it. I'm also open to any ideas on ways to get my cash into my account by other means or even ways to send money between accounts on the cheap.
Thanks to anyone who even tried to read my wall of text.
